Synopsis

One of those unfortunate efforts which looks a wow on paper great plot, great director, Grade A comic cast but which sinks like a celluloid Titanic under the weight of more ham than a butcher's shop. Based on a gift of a true story (woman tries desperately to kill unfaithful hubby, but he seems clottishly indestructible), yet everyone appears inexplicably hellbent on pressing the destruct button. Joan Plowright is unbelievably over the top as an eccentric mother-in-law, who just stops short of warbling Nessun Dorma over the credits. A dreadful waste of all concerned.
