Synopsis
The American film industry's lazy attitude to remakes is epitomised by this lame yuletide reworking of How to Marry a Millionaire. What next, How to Murder Your Husband? Replacing the gold-diggers of Jean Negulesco's 1953 comedy are a hapless actor, a mediocre sculptor and a neurotic teacher who pose as movie producers in order to snare wealthy brides. Ignoring the obvious chauvinism of the premise, this is still a lacklustre effort, with neither John Stamos, Shemar Moore nor Joshua Malina emerging as sympathetic characters, while the lashings of seasonal schmaltz only make this lumpen confection even less palatable.
